The history of Tirta Gangga Royal Water Garden dates back to the year 1948 when the ruling King was the King of Karangasem, named Anak Agung Ketut Karangasem. The garden was constructed by the king with a unique Chinese and Balinese architectural style. Located beside the hot spring, this place was built in the form of a breathtakingly beautiful garden.
The hot spring on the premises of the royal water garden is pushed from under an extensive banyan tree that rests on the top of the hill, where you will also find a village temple. As far as the beauty of the lace is concerned, one can imagine the remarkable views and splendid climate without witnessing it themselves.
All these things, along with the religious significance of the hot spring, motivated the king to build a tiny country house for himself amidst the spellbinding recreational garden. He then named the garden Tirta Gangga, deriving the words “Tirta” and “Gangga” from the blessed water and the holy river in India, the Ganges, respectively.
